Brinco 2 Cave
Brinco 2 is part of the extensive Playa Girón fracture cave system, located in the Matanzas province. The cave begins in a small lake approximately 200 meters from the coast and extends inland through a submerged fracture network. This system is characterized by distinct water layers, caused by a high presence of hydrogen sulfide, creating visually striking gradients along the walls.
This cave holds both geological significance and historical weight. In 2014, two divers tragically went missing during an undocumented dive. Their remains were only discovered a decade later, highlighting the complex and hazardous nature of this system—and the importance of responsible exploration.
